Samsung introduced its new Galaxy S25 series of smartphones that are expected to rival Apple’s latest editions of the iPhone.

The South Korean tech giant unveiled the new line at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose, Calif. on Wednesday. The phones are said to be chock full of innovative features.

Chief among them is the integration of the Galaxy AI artificial intelligence platform in several new features, such as personalized morning summaries, task assistance and the debut of the Gemini assistant — which will streamline daily activities like scheduling and messaging.

The phones also come with One UI 7, Samsung’s latest custom interface which is built on the Android 15 operating system developed by Google.

One UI 7 features a redesigned “Now Bar,” a vertical app drawer and enhanced AI-driven tools like improved writing assistance and call transcription.

The “Now Bar” will provide quick access to essential information directly from the lock screen, according to Samsung.

Positioned at the bottom of the lock screen, it displays live activities such as music playback, timers and voice recordings, allowing users to manage these functions without unlocking their devices.

The “Now Bar” is Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Dynamic Island — the interactive user interface feature introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro.

Like the “Now Bar,” Dynamic Island enhances multitasking by showing live updates for music, calls, timers and third-party apps.

The Galaxy S25 series includes three models: the standard S25, the S25+, and the premium S25 Ultra. The S25 and S25+ boast sleek, thinner bezels and color-matched camera modules for a polished look.

Another highly anticipated feature of the S25 series is the device’s picture-taking capabilities.

The phone includes a 200 megapixel main camera, along with advanced ultra-wide and telephoto lenses, promise crystal-clear shots, even at extreme distances.

The S25 is powered by Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset — an advanced processor enables lightning-fast multitasking and seamless gaming.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra starts at $1,299.99, the S25+ at $999.99, and the S25 at $799.99, with various color options, including exclusive online variants.

Samsung is offering trade-in deals, with savings of up to $1,200 on the Ultra, $800 on the S25+, and $550 on the S25, including instant credits and Samsung store bonuses.

Social media users who got their hands on the phone were ecstatic.

“Gemini Live is now integrated into the S25 series. The best voice assistant on any device right now,” observed Roberto Nickson.
