Selena Gomez makes embarrassing Diddy slip at charity event
The internet can’t calm down over Selena Gomez’s latest snafu.
The 32-year-old had a slip-up while taking the stage at her Rare Impact Fund Benefit on Thursday.
During her speech at the event, Gomez gave a shout-out to many charities, including the Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services (DHMS), which helps to prevent suicide among young people.
“They are committed to youth mental health, from suicide prevention training in schools to their drop-in center here in LA, and their Teen Line lifeline,” the singer shared, per a video obtained by TMZ. “I am very honored to be working with such incredible change-makers.”
The second annual benefit was held to raise money for organizations that focus on providing mental health services to young people.
Gomez then introduced DHMS’ executive director “Didi” — pronounced “dee-dee” — who she instead accidentally called “Diddy.” The crowd erupted into laughter at her slip of the tongue.
The Disney alum addressed the room after her mistake, telling them, “I really am sorry.”
Sean “Diddy” Combs is continuing to make headlines amid his ongoing legal battles. The disgraced rapper was arrested last month in Manhattan. Combs, 54, is accused of abusing, threatening and coercing women “to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct,” according to the 14-page indictment released after his arrest.
He has pleaded not guilty to various charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Combs has also been hit with several civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and rape. A recent suit claims the former mogul drugged and raped a 13-year-old girl with two other celebrities after the VMAs in 2000.
He was first accused of a years-long pattern of domestic and sexual violence — and even trafficking — by his former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie Ventura, in a lawsuit she filed against him last November that they settled out of court.
