Paramount Pictures is already making plans for a fourth installment of the series, based on the Sega video games, which is slated to be released in 2027.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” remained in second place, with earnings of $12 million.

The Walt Disney Pictures musical drama — which cost a whopping $200 million to make — is projected to earn $58 million over the five-day holiday weekend.

Gothic horror “Nosferatu,” which was released on Wednesday, took third, with sales of $7.25 million.

The remake of the 1922 silent film of the same name stars Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis.

The Post called the film a “skin-crawling remake” that “comes in at about 98% dread” and praised its casting as “a fang of beauty.”
