Octavia Wells, 41, had been headed to rehab on New Years Eve when she texted a man she’d previously entered in her phone as “PJ,” allegedly offering to pay $45 for the opioid, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Wells soon learned she’d mistakenly contacted Stephen Pettijohn, an investigator with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office known as “PJ,” with whom she’d had a “previous iteration,” according to police.

She allegedly later told cops Pettijohn’s name was similar to her drug dealer’s, according to the arrest affidavit.

Details of Wells’ previous interaction with the investigator were not described in the complaint affidavit.
