Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp gave a shocking health update just over a year after she shared sobering news about her skin cancer treatment.
Mellencamp shared a statement on Instagram today announcing doctors had found “multiple tumors” in her brain.
The Bravo star explained that she had been suffering from “severe and debilitating headaches” for several weeks before she was finally hospitalized when they grew “unbearable.”
After undergoing a CT scan and an MRI, doctors told her they found multiple tumors they believe had been growing for “at least 6 months.” Mellencamp added that she will be undergoing surgery to have two of the tumors removed today (Feb. 12), while the rest will be treated with radiation.
“I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get back into better health,” she wrote. “Thank you to everybody who has reached out, and to everyone who has supported me along this journey.”
Before releasing the statement, Mellencamp shared an image of herself in a hospital bed to her Instagram Stories.
“Counting down the minutes until my babies get here,” she wrote. “As my dad said this am, god only gives hard stuff to those of us who can handle it. It’s a hard day but I have faith and amazing surgeons and know everything will be okay.”
Just hours later, she also shared a video of someone shaving her head. “I have this look on my bucket list,” she joked.
Mellencamp first announced her stage 2 cancer diagnosis in 2022.
In a statement at the time, she implored her followers to take care of themselves.
She wrote, “I continue to share this journey because I was a 90s teen, putting baby oil and iodine on my skin to tan it. Never wearing sunscreen or getting my moles checked until I was 40 years old. This has been such a wakeup call for me, and I hope to all of you, to love and protect the skin you’re in.”
In December 2023, she announced the immunotherapy treatment was unsuccessful in treating her melanoma.
She shared at the time that she planned on undergoing surgery later that month.
“I don’t like going under and my anxiety is popping off but I have faith all will be ok and that the reason this is happening to me is because I am able to raise awareness,” she said.
