The cringey words Ted Danson utters after having sex with Mary Steenburgen
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are in a good place.
And some of that might be thanks to their decadeslong union and a cheeky fun fact about the “Man on the Inside” star, 77.
“I admired him so much as an actor, but I didn’t personally know him. And I had this stupid idea that he was, like, maybe kind of a slick guy,” Steenburgen, 71, told People while at the Golden Gala on Friday ahead of the 2025 Golden Globes.
The “Step Brothers” alum offered some insight into her sex life, joking, “How wrong I was. Slick guys don’t say, ‘gosh-a-rooni,’ after making love. I’d like to apologize to my granddaughters.”
Steenburgen also realized there was more than meets the eye when it came to her husband — whom she tied the knot with in 1995 — including him “fighting to keep the oceans of the world safe and thriving” along with his “kindness” on television sets.
The “Book Club” actress gushed about Danson, “And there is a reason that Ted is treasured by everyone who works with him … Ted sets the tone.”
The “CSI” star was honored with the Carol Burnett Award, which was well-deserved according to his doting wife.
“He’s just so loving and takes such joy in acting that all of us who are hard at work away from our families for long hours get to work on a set that is dictated by his kindness,” Steenburgen gushed. “And as his wife watching the respect and love that crews have for Ted has always made me very proud of him.”
The actress added that she “fell in love with the sort of father that he is and with his beloved daughters.”
Danson is dad to daughters Kate and Alexis with his second wife, Casey Coates. Steenburgen, meanwhile, shares daughter Lilly and son Charlie with ex Malcolm McDowell.
“Ted loves them with all his heart and yet had space in there to love my Lilly and Charlie so perfectly as well. It’s pretty thrilling to go through life with Ted Danson,” she explained.
The couple, who met in 1983, are set to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary in October and touched on the secret to their long-lasting marriage in November.
“The most fun is the early mornings … coffee in bed, playing Wordle, Connections and Spelling Bee, talking and laughing and sharing,” Danson told People. “To both of us, it’s like heaven on Earth.”
“Even if she’s working in a different time zone, we will wake up in time to be able to play our games and have coffee over the phone,” he added.
Danson met Steenburgen in his 40s and has previously revealed that he believed the timing was just right.
“I had, about a year before [I met her], decided I want to become a more emotionally mature, honest human being,” he said. “I worked very hard at it or I don’t think Mary Steenburgen would’ve even seen me.”
