Tori Spelling doesn’t believe she deserves ‘anything’ following Dean McDermott split

Tori Spelling teared up explaining why she doesn’t feel like she deserves “anything” following her split from Dean McDermott after 17 years of marriage and five kids together.

“I don’t feel like I deserve anything, and that’s my whole life,” the actress, 51, said on the latest episode of her “Misspelling” podcast Friday. “I grew up that way and that’s it, and I don’t know how to get that back.”

Spelling, whose father was acclaimed Hollywood producer Aaron Spelling, explained that she grew up feeling like she had to keep herself “small” because of who her father was.

She noted that it’s a work in progress to give herself more credit, adding, “I’m aware that while I was handed [‘Beverly Hills, 902010’], I created that character, I sustained that character, I embodied that character, I made that character what it was.”

Tori — who shares Liam, 17, Stella, 16, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12, and Beau, 7, with McDermott — said she still “constantly” feels like she’s letting her children down because her life is “not stable.”

“Their lives are not stable. The love’s there, but they’re on this rollercoaster with me, unfortunately,” the “90210” alum said.

Tori also admitted in the episode that she feels she has been in “constant flight or flight mode” since her divorce, admitting that while she wants to get therapy, she hasn’t “had a chance.”

“Since my soon-to-be ex-husband separated, it’s been flight or flight. It’s been constant with five kids, and whether it’s emotionally, physically, financially, we’ve just been going,” she explained.

Tori’s moment of self-reflection comes nine months after she filed for divorce from McDermott, 58.

However, the couple’s date of separation was listed as June 17, 2023, as they had been dealing with several marital issues, including the former “Chopped Canada” host’s sobriety.

Tori revealed earlier this year that a blowout fight they had, in which she threw a baked potato on the ground amid the heated argument, led to the pair finally calling it quits.

Since then, there have been rumblings that the TV star and McDermott have been dealing with some financial issues amid the demise of their marriage.

Tori admitted on her podcast in April that she sometimes doubted her decision to file for divorce, but ultimately thought, “There was just so much resentment that was built up that I couldn’t go back to that.”
