Travel influencer parents called out over ‘unsafe’ baby carrier

Nobody puts baby in a corner — or a plastic tub, apparently.

A globetrotting pair of Norwegian travel influencer parents left their followers divided after posting footage from an tour of underwater caves in Thailand — showing them toting an infant along in a storage bin.

“I was a bit scared before we started, I must admit,” Tora, 32, captioned the clip showing the jerry-rigged carrier, which has racked up thousands of views on TikTok.

She and her husband Marcus, 31, who post under the handle @TorasTravels, have become a fixture on the platform after sharing videos of their various adventures around the globe.

They’re now parents to a ten-month-old baby, but this hasn’t stopped them from slaking their wanderlust — they now bring their son along on their adventures.

Unfortunately, many of these remote locales aren’t exactly child-friendly, which has forced the couple to improvise on occasion.

Tora explained that their latest excursion to Emerald Cave in Thailand — a famous coastal cavern located on the island of Koh Moo — was only accessible via swimming, which their progeny understandably couldn’t do.

So, heeding their guide’s suggestion, the nomadic Nordics put their pride and joy in a plastic tub like a dollar bin Moses so he could “come along” for the ride.

“Our guide had done this many times before, and it felt completely safe,” wrote Tora, who initially had cold feet but said it was totally “worth it.”

Footage shows the couple ferrying their child through the 260-foot tunnel in his goo-goo gondola as he takes in the sights, effectively striking this adventure off their “bucket” list.

The clip concludes with Tora carrying the fun-size spelunker around a picturesque beach on the other side.

“We got out on the other side and the cave was magical, we are so happy we brought him along to experience it,” Tora told Newsweek. “Our baby thought it was very fun, he was laughing and cheering inside the box.”

The TikTok viewers had more mixed feelings about this makeshift tot yacht.

Many were delighted that the baby could accompany them with one fan fawning, “This is incredible.”

“Very creative way to let your baby enjoy the moment,” gushed another.

A third suggested, “Show him when your baby grows up.”

Others weren’t as enthused with baby’s unusual day out and few even accused the parents of child endangerment.

“Where’s the baby’s life vest?” wondered one critic, while another wrote, “Today was not a good day for safety.”

“It seems kinda unsafe to do it? Box can easily tip over and baby has no floater,” said another, to which Tora replied, “No, box was very sturdy and we were three people supporting it with floating vests, he was totally safe.”

Armchair parenting critics aside, the proud mama said she doesn’t regret her decision.

“As first-time parents, we are often on the most cautious side of the spectrum,” she declared.

“But as we have traveled to non-Western countries, we have learned that if you want to bring your kids along, that sometimes means doing things a bit outside your comfort zone.”
