Travis Kelce talks ‘bad’ Super Bowl 2025, Patrick Mahomes discusses tight end’s future
He can give an interview with a broken heart.
A teary-eyed Travis Kelce spoke to reporters in the locker room post-Super Bowl 2025 loss to discuss his team’s “bad” game.
“[We] couldn’t get it going offensively,” the tight end, 35, said in an X video of the Kansas City Chiefs’ devastating matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, which ended in a score of 40-22.
The athlete added, “I mean, they just got after us on all three phases and then on top of that, you know, turnovers, penalties, playing behind the sticks on offense.
“We haven’t played that bad all year,” Kelce continued. “You don’t lose like that without everything going bad.”
However, he credited his teammates with “fighting until the end forever” despite the blowout.
“Even with the score late, we were always gonna fight,” the “Catching Kelce” alum noted. “We just couldn’t find that spark. We couldn’t find that momentum.”
The NFL star’s teammate Patrick Mahomes, meanwhile, discussed Kelce’s potential retirement in his own post-game interview.
“I know he still has a love for the game, and he’ll get to spend some time with his family and make that decision on his own,” the quarterback said.
The 29-year-old gushed, “He’s given so much to this team and to the NFL. And he’s been such a joy, not only for me to work with, but for people to watch.”
Mahomes claimed that Kelce “still has a football left in him” as he “always makes plays in the biggest moments.”
Kelce, notably, predicted in a press conference last week that he sees himself “hopefully still playing football” in three years.
Whatever the case, Mahomes praised Kelce as a “gold jacket guy” and “first ballot Hall of Famer” on Sunday evening.
Mahomes and Kelce’s respective partners, wife Brittany Mahomes and girlfriend Taylor Swift, were present at the New Orleans game in all-white outfits — but neither has spoken out on the gut-wrenching loss.
The pop star, who was booed during her pre-game jumbotron appearance, couldn’t hide her stress while watching.
