Yes, That Is Jennifer Coolidge’s Villainous Husband Greg in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3

The White Lotus Season 3 premiere, “Same Spirits, New Forms” welcomes a star-studded cast to the HBO series as well as one surprising returning face.

While we already knew that The White Lotus Season 1 star Natasha Rothwell would be reprising her scene-stealing role as spa manager Belinda, HBO stayed totally mum about the return of another character closely tied to Jennifer Coolidge‘s Tanya McQuoid-Hunt and her untimely demise at the end of The White Lotus Season 2.

**Spoilers for The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 1 “Same Spirits, New Forms,” now streaming on MAX**

Tanya’s devious ex-husband, Greg Hunt (Jon Gries), is also hanging out in Thailand in The White Lotus Season 3!

Yes, the bald boyfriend that Charlotte Le Bon‘s Chloe points out to sweet Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) in The White Lotus Season 3 premiere is 100% the same guy who first wooed Tanya just to orchestrate her death in Season 2!!! Greg is back!!!

So what exactly is Tanya’s ex Greg up to in The White Lotus Season 3? What little clues has series creator, writer, and director Mike White already sent our way? And what does it mean that Belinda, the other White Lotus Season 1 character who was close to Tanya, is also in Thailand at the same time as Greg?!?

Is That Greg in The White Lotus Season 3?

Yes, Greg is back in The White Lotus Season 3! We see him sitting glumly in the White Lotus Thailand’s restaurant while his hot new girlfriend complains about him to Aimee Lou Wood’s Chelsea.

According to Charlotte Le Bon’s Chloe, Greg is one of the many bald LBHs you’ll find in Thailand. “LBH” stands for “losers back home.” Greg has apparently been holed up in Thailand for about a year, living in a house atop a hill close to the White Lotus. (Apparently this dude is really into White Lotus hotels.) And former model Chloe’s been with him the whole time.

You’ll remember that in The White Lotus Season 1, Greg appeared as a kind suitor for the lonely Tanya. He told Tanya that he was dealing with a terminal illness and the wealthy woman promised to pay for whatever treatment he would need.

In The White Lotus Season 2, the now married Hunts travel to Italy on vacation and there are signs of friction in the marriage. Greg seems frustrated by Tanya’s behavior, specifically her decision to bring her assistant Portia (Haley Lu Richardson) along. She overhears him talking on the phone about her being “clueless” before he has to abruptly fly to Denver for work.

Tanya soon is befriended by Quentin (Tom Hollander), a charming gay British man who showers the lonely woman with attention. It soon becomes clear, through various clues in the show, that Quentin was once in love with Greg and the two men are scheming to kill Tanya so Greg can inherit her fortune. Their plan goes awry when Tanya realizes what’s going on. After killing her would-be assailants, Tanya dies anyway by hitting her head.

It seems that Greg managed to inherit Tanya’s millions and that he has been laying low in Thailand this whole time (or at least for a year). Chloe may or may not know about his past with Tanya, but she definitely doesn’t have a high opinion of him. It will be interesting to see what else we can glean about their relationship in the weeks ahead.

Something else to watch out for? Whether or not Greg and Belinda will cross paths. Belinda never really got to know Greg in The White Lotus Season 1, but she definitely knew Tanya. Before she ran off with Greg, Tanya wanted to fund Belinda’s dream health spa. Tanya even expressed an inkling of guilt over this in Season 2, when she wondered aloud if Belinda had cursed her.

Would Belinda recognize Greg if she saw him? Does Greg have designs on a new character to con? Is the saga of Tanya McQuoid even over?

We’ll have to keep on tuning into The White Lotus on Sundays on HBO and MAX to find out.
