Will Knicks regret cautious trade deadline amid rivals’ moves?

The NBA trade deadline came and went with a whimper for the Knicks, lest you happen to think swapping one spare part (Jericho Sims) for another (Delon Wright) rivals the massive weekend move of Luka Dončić to the Lakers.

Obviously, not even the immediate families of those involved in the Knicks’ lone minor move would ever dare to suggest that.

Either way, the Knicks are going with what has gotten them to the third-best record in the Eastern Conference, but the question now will be whether Mitchell Robinson’s eventual return is enough to combat and challenge the defending champion Celtics or the other contenders after a few of them did make significant moves ahead of the deadline.

The Cavaliers did not stand pat on the East’s best record (41-10), upgrading on the perimeter by adding De’Andre Hunter in a trade with the Hawks. The 6-foot-8 Hunter gives Cleveland an effective wing defender to pair against Boston’s Jaylen Brown or Jayson Tatum in any potential playoff series, while he also is shooting 39% from 3-point land this season.
